晴家 HALELUYA Guest House
An old Japanese home created by travellers, for travellers
Located in Katsuyama, near the southern shore of Lake Kawaguchiko, HALELUYA is a small guesthouse set inside a Japanese home that is around sixty years old.
Its hosts, themselves former backpackers, renovated the building while preserving much of its original character, including tatami flooring, shōji screens, an engawa veranda and a communal living area centred around a traditional sunken kotatsu. The result is a simple, personal place where travellers can meet and slow down.
Accommodation includes a private Japanese-style room, an unusual indoor-camp room and a mixed dormitory with spacious beds. The kitchen, lounge, showers and bathroom facilities are shared. Complimentary bicycles also make it easy to explore the lake and surrounding area.
